Take a strong frame, lob off the seat, install granny gearing, and start jumping from rock to rock while standing on the pedals.
That's pretty much the basics of Bicycle Trials, a little-known offshoot of motorcycle trials riding that uses mountain bike or BMX bikes to do crazy tricks. In Europe it's better known, probably because it started there in 1980. But here it seems to be slow growing, possibly because of the name "bicycle trials," which sounds generic and a bit confusing. What's it like, or what can it be compared to in the US? Think of it as low-speed Freestyle.
Seattle PI ran a segment this morning in "Under the Needle called "Bicyclist's unique balancing act." It sure has me looking for more info about the sport.
